It is my kid's PC and I'll be a sad dad if I have to tell him I borked his whole system during an "upgrade" Here, I discovered that I think I selected the option to "Image Selected Disks" to create an image of my system drive, instead of "Backup Windows" which I somehow didn't see. I then went to restore the image from Macrium: blue screen again. Reset BIOS to factory defaults: same blue screen.įeeling confident since I had an image of the known-good drive, I installed a clean copy of Windows 10 on the drive to see if it was a hardware or BIOS issue. I went back into BIOS and reversed the changes I had just made: same blue screen. Save changes and exit: the system failed to boot at all, blue screen suggesting I insert recovery media. The system worked, so I thought I was all good.Ī couple of days later, I was in BIOS and saw that "Resize BAR Enabled?" was not active, so I enabled it, turning off "Compatibility Support Mode" and turning on "Above 4G Encoding" in the process.
I thought I was being smart before some upgrades, created an image of my system drive with Macrium, and went about the upgrades (installing a larger NVME drive, converting it to the boot drive). I think I selected "Image Selected Disk" and not "Backup Windows." Can I save this? Rebuild my EFI Partition? TL DR - I tried to back up my system using Macrium Reflect (free, ver8.1).
